Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin imperdibilis.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin imperdibilis (9th cent.; 14th cent. in a British source) < classical Latin im- im- prefix2 + classical Latin perdere to lose (see perdition n.) + -ibilis -ible suffix. Compare earlier imperible adj., imperishable adj.
Now rare.
That cannot be lost, eradicated, or destroyed; indestructible, imperishable.
