Etymology: < Latin īleus, īleos, < Greek ἰλεός or εἰλεός colic, ‘iliac passion’, apparently < εἴλειν to roll.
1. Pathology. A painful affection (frequently fatal), due to intestinal obstruction, esp. in the ileum: also called iliac passion.
