释义 | > as lemmashonourable gentleman ‘Honourable’ (abbreviated Hon. adj.1) is given to the younger sons of earls, to sons and daughters of viscounts and barons, to maids of honour, all Justices of the High Court (not being Lord Justices nor Lords of Appeal), to Lords of Session, the Lord Provost of Glasgow (during office), and especially to members of Governments or of Executive Councils in Commonwealth countries. In the United States it is given to members of both Houses of Congress, and of State legislatures, to judges, justices, etc. Honourable is also applied to the House of Commons collectively, honourable member or honourable gentleman being applied to individual members.
