Origin: Formed wtihin English, by derivation. Etymons: hog n.1, -erel , -rel suffix.
Etymology: < hog n.1 + -erel, variant of -rel suffix. It is uncertain whether sense 2 shows any connection with post-classical Latin hogerellus young sheep (12th to 14th centuries in British sources).
1. Scottish. The skin of a hog (hog n.1 4a). Obsolete.
