In later use chiefly English regional (northern, now esp. Yorkshire).
Bread made from oatmeal; (now) esp. a kind of large, thin oatcake baked on a griddle and dried. Cf. havercake n.

1868 Notes & Queries 1 Feb. 110/1 The haver-bread..is similarly made from oatmeal and water, but without any admixture of leaven of any description, and after being rolled as thin as possible, and during that operation dusted with dry oatmeal, is baked and turned also on the bakstone. This kind is chiefly used in Cumberland, Westmoreland, and in the North of Lancashire; also in the North Riding of Yorkshire, &c., and is generally much preferred to the common oatcake.
