Etymology: < have v. + been, past participle of be v. Compare earlier has-been n. and also had-been n.
A person or thing whose best days are over; a has-been. Also: a person, thing, or event of the past. Chiefly in plural.Apparently not used predicatively with a third person singular subject (cf. has-been n. 2).
