Cf. grassy green adj.In quots. eOE, OE translating forms of classical Latin carbasinus made of linen, which occurs in the sense ‘green’ in glossarial sources (apparently originally in connection with the interpretation of the attestation of the word in the Vulgate in Esther 6:1), perhaps influenced in sense by classical Latin prasinus prasine adj.
