Rugby, American Football, etc. The line near each end of the pitch which marks the boundary between the field of play and the area in which the attacking side can score, e.g. the end zone in American football, the in-goal area in rugby. In rugby football and Canadian football the goalposts are located in the centre of each goal line, whereas in American football they are located at the end of each end zone.In rugby this line is now more usually referred to as the try line (see try line n. at try n.
