Chiefly at Oxford and Cambridge Universities: a member of a class of undergraduates entitled to certain privileges; spec. a wealthy or aristocratic undergraduate paying higher fees for the privilege of dining at a table separate from those of other undergraduates, and for exemption from lectures, exercises, and other academic responsibilities, and distinguished from other undergraduates by special academic dress.
