单词 | gazet |
释义 | † gazetn. Obsolete. A Venetian coin of small value. The earliest quots. give its value as about three farthings, but Cotgrave says of the French gazette, ‘scarce worth our farthing’, and quot. 1682 agrees with this. Probably its worth varied in different places, as it was coined at Venice for circulation in the Levant.
