Etymology: < post-classical Latin rhetorication-, rhetoricatio action of speaking or writing rhetorically (a1531) < classical Latin rhētoricāt- , past participial stem of rhētoricārī rhetoricate v. + -iō -ion suffix1. Compare French rhétorication (1689; normally used depreciatively).
Now archaic and rare.
A piece of rhetoric; a rhetorical flourish.
