A carbamate compound used as a sedative and hypnotic drug.Chemical name: 2-bromo-N-carbamoyl-2-ethylbutanamide; C7H13BrN2O2.

1911 Jrnl. Chem. Soc. 100 ii. 1120 Adaline is a sedative producing light, but lasting, sleep.
1916 Illinois Med. Jrnl. 29 27/1 Adalin is therefore a good hypnotic, but not suitable for suicidal purpose.
1950 L. E. H. Whitby & C. J. C. Britton Disorders Blood (ed. 6) xiv. 348 Sedormid, and, to a lesser extent, other drugs of the open chain ureide type, such as adalin and bromural, cause agglutination and later lysis, of platelets in the blood.
