Origin: A borrowing from Cornish. Etymon: Cornish fūgan.
Etymology: < Cornish fūgan, of uncertain origin, perhaps originally < the same base as oggy n. (although this poses phonological problems), or perhaps < foge hearth (see foge n.2) + -an , suffix forming nouns. Compare oggy n.
English regional (chiefly Cornwall).
Any of various types of dough cake made with flour or meal mixed with fat, esp. a sweet cake containing currants.
