angle of contact n. †(a) Geometry the (infinitesimal) angle between a curve and its tangent at the point of contact, or between two adjacent tangents to a curve (obsolete); also called angle of contingence; (b) Physics the angle between two surfaces in physical contact; spec. the angle between the tangent to the surface of a droplet at its point of contact with a surface on which it rests, and the plane of that surface.
