1. Food suitable for or eaten by angels; heavenly sustenance (esp. with reference to the manna (manna n.1 1a) described in the Bible as miraculously provided for the Israelites in the wilderness). Hence (figurative): spiritual (as opposed to bodily) nourishment. Cf. angels' bread n. 1. Now rare.
