The wing of an angel or a representation of such a wing; esp. a wing of the type shown in conventional depictions of angels in Western art, typically being large and white, with long feathers at the tip.In figurative or metonymic use, sometimes as a symbol of angelic, divine, or providential protection, guidance, or comfort; cf. angel n. 3.In quot. 1433 with reference to costumes for actors playing the part of angels.
