单词 annal
释义

annaladj.

Forms: 1500s–1600s annall, 1500s–1700s annal.
Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin annālis.
Etymology: < classical Latin annālis (see annals n.). Compare earlier annual adj.Compare Anglo-Norman and Old French, Middle French anal , annal , anel , annel (French annal ) annual, yearly (early 12th cent.), (now only) (of an activity, period of office, etc.) lasting one year (15th cent.), Old Occitan anal (c1210), Spanish †anal , †annal (12th cent.; the usual Spanish word is anual annual adj.), Italian annale (early 14th cent. in this sense; 13th cent. in the sense ‘(of an animal) one year old’). Occasional later instances of the form probably show typographical errors for annual adj.; compare e.g.:1889 Church at Home & Abroad (Gen. Assembly Presbyterian Church U.S.A.) June 576/2 This makes sixty-seven persons received since my last annal report.1987 Computerworld 6 Apr. 89/4 Annal sales rose from less than $1 million to more than $125 million.
