Origin: Formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: fall v., -able suffix; fall n.2, -able suffix.
Etymology: Partly < fall v. + -able suffix, and partly < fall n.2 + -able suffix.With the form fallible compare -ible suffix. Most apparent post-18th cent. instances are more likely to be misspellings or typographical errors for fallible adj. or fellable adj.
Now rare.
1. Capable of falling (in various senses); liable to fall.In later use chiefly as a pun on, or creative reinterpretation of, fallible.
