Etymology: Probably partly < faggot n. + -ed suffix2, and partly < faggot v. + -ed suffix1.
1. Tied, bound, or bundled in a manner reminiscent of faggots of wood; cf. faggot v. 4a. Later chiefly literal, of sticks, twigs, etc.: made into faggots. Also (and in earliest use) in faggoted up. Now rare.In quot. 1761 Botany: growing or occurring in a bunch; = fasciculate adj. a.
