Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: Euro- comb. form, zone n.; Euro n.2, zone n.
Etymology: Partly < Euro- comb. form + zone n., and partly (in later use) < Euro n.2 (compare sense 1 at that entry) + zone n. Compare slightly later Euroland n.
Originally: a particular area or region of Europe. Now chiefly: spec. the economic region formed by those member countries of the European Union which have adopted the euro as a common currency. Cf. Euro n.2 1.
