Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French entrour.
Etymology: < Anglo-Norman entrour (13th cent.) < entrer enter v. + -our -or suffix. Compare later entrant n. 2a. N.E.D. (1891) gives the pronunciation as (e·ntrəɹ, -ǭ:ɹ) /ˈɛntrə(r)/, /-ˌɔː(r)/.
Law. Obsolete.
A person who enters a piece of land, property, etc., as a legal assertion of ownership; (more generally) a person who assumes legal possession of or title to lands, property, etc. Cf. enter v. 18a.
