Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from French. Or (ii) a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: French epidimial; Latin epidemialis.
Etymology: < Middle French epidimial (14th cent.) or its etymon post-classical Latin epidemialis, epidimialis (14th cent. in British and continental sources) < epidemia epidemy n. + classical Latin -ālis -al suffix1.
