Origin: A borrowing from German, combined with an English element. Etymons: German Alpenglühen , glow n.
Etymology: < German Alpenglühen (1831; apparently < Alpen , the name of the Alps (see Alp n.1) + Glühen , use as noun of glühen to glow: see glow v.1), with substitution of glow n. for the second element.
