Etymology: < Yanomamö ebene. The forms epene and epena are also found in various other languages of the Yanomaman language family.

A psychoactive powder made from a mixture of plant materials, esp. the bark and resin of trees of the genus Virola (family Myristicaceae), which is used as snuff in rituals of the Yanomamo people of Venezuela and Brazil.
