Etymology: Old English éadmód , phonetic variant of éaþmód, < éaþe , eath adj. and adv. + mód mood n.1; the exact equivalent (type *auþu-môdo- ) does not occur in continental Germanic, but the derivatives in -môdjo- (= edmede adj.) and in -môdîn- (= edmede n.) are found with forms parallel to the Old English éaþ- , éad- ; see edmede n., edmede adj.
Obsolete.
