Etymology: modern Latin, < Greek διαπήδησις, < διαπηδᾶν to ooze through, < δια- through + πηδᾶν to leap, throb. In modern French diapédèse (Paré 16th cent.).
Pathology.
The oozing of blood through the unruptured walls of the blood vessels.
