Origin: A borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Etymons: Latin dēlīneāt- , dēlīneāre , -ive suffix.
Etymology: < classical Latin dēlīneāt-, past participial stem of dēlīneāre delineate v. + -ive suffix. Compare earlier delineatory adj.Compare Portuguese delineativo (1690).
Tending to delineate something; of the nature of or characterized by delineation; esp. descriptive. Also with of indicating the thing delineated.
