Etymology: < de- prefix + classical Latin lignum wood (see lignum n.1) + -ate suffix3, after dilapidate v.
Obsolete.
transitive. To remove wood or trees from (a place).Apparently an isolated use, in reference to the literal meaning of dilapidate supposedly being ‘to scatter the stones of’ (see the etymology of that entry).
