Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin dēlīberant-, dēlīberāns, dēlīberāre.
Etymology: < classical Latin dēlīberant-, dēlīberāns, present participle of dēlīberāre deliber v. Compare earlier deliberator n.Compare Middle French deliberant, French délibérant, noun (1568 or earlier).
A person who deliberates a particular subject with others, esp. as part of an assembly or other body. Formerly also: †a person who engages in careful reflection (obsolete).
