Etymology: < classical Latin dēlectāre delight v. Compare earlier delight v., and also earlier delectation n.
Now rare.Apparently unattested between the 16th and 19th centuries.
intransitive. To delight or take pleasure in something. Also: to be a source of pleasure or delight. In later use also transitive (reflexive): to gratify oneself.In quot. 1510 transitive (in passive): to be relished or enjoyed.
