Etymology: < post-classical Latin adiecticius (see adjectitious adj.) + -an suffix. N.E.D. (1884) gives the pronunciation as (ædʒekti·ʃăn) /ædʒɛkˈtɪʃən/.
Roman Law. Obsolete. rare.
Designating a legal action against a paterfamilias concerning a debt incurred by a third party for whom he is responsible, such as a slave or member of his household (see quot.).
