单词 alfridary
释义

alfridaryn.

Brit. /ˈalfrᵻd(ə)ri/, U.S. /ˈælfrəˌdɛri/
Forms:

α. 1600s alfriduria.

β. 1600s alfridarie, 1600s alfridarii (plural), 1600s alfrydary, 1600s– alfridary.

γ. 1700s alfridaria.

Origin: Apparently a borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin alfridarius, alfridaria.
Etymology: Apparently < post-classical Latin alfridarius (1545 or earlier; also less frequently alfridaria, feminine (1485 or earlier)) < Arabic al-ifrīdārīya < al the + ifrīdārīya, variant (with prosthetic vowel) of fardāriya, of uncertain origin. Compare Middle French, French †alfridaire (1595 or earlier; probably < post-classical Latin), Spanish alfridaria (1690 or earlier; 1614 as †alfreydaria; 1585 or earlier as †alfridario (in años alfridarios, plural)). Compare also Spanish †firdaria (a1260 in plural †firdaries; also †firidarie, †fidari). The form alfriduria at α. forms apparently shows a misprint. In form alfridarii after the plural of the Latin masculine noun.
