Etymology: < the name of B. B. Crohn (1884–1983), U.S. pathologist, who with others described it in 1932 ( Jrnl. Amer. Med. Assoc. 15 Oct. 1323).
Pathology.
A chronic, sometimes fatal, inflammatory disease of the gastro-intestinal tract, esp. the ileum and colon, characterized by ulcers, fissuring, and fistulæ.
