Origin: A borrowing from Italian. Etymon: Italian conservatorio.
Etymology: < Italian conservatorio (although this is first recorded later in this sense in dictionaries of Italian (1812): see conservatory n.). Compare conservatoire n., conservatorium n., and conservatory n. 2b.
