Compare clickety-clack n.Compare also English regional (Somerset) click-to-clack (1888) denoting ‘the noise of pattens or of a horse with a loose shoe’, apparently showing a parallel formation with insertion of to prep., although it may alternatively show an alteration of clickety-clack n.
