Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish chimichurri.
Etymology: < Argentinian Spanish chimichurri (1958 or earlier in culinary use), of uncertain origin.
In Argentinian cookery: a piquant sauce or marinade traditionally used on grilled meat, typically containing parsley, garlic, vinegar, oil, chilli, and other ingredients, sometimes including tomatoes or red peppers.
