Etymology: < classical Latin catamītus boy kept by a man as a sexual partner, specific use of Catamītus , the name of Ganymede, Jupiter's cup-bearer < Etruscan Catmite < ancient Greek Γανυμήδης , the name of Jupiter's cup-bearer (see Ganymede n.), perhaps via an unattested form *Γαδυμήδης or *Γαδομήδης.
A boy or young man who is made use of as a (typically passive) sexual partner by an older man. More generally: a (younger) passive partner in homosexual anal intercourse.Frequently in contexts indicating disdain or contempt.
