Due for completion in 2011, the four-storey arts and humanities building will house the department of history and a new studio for film studies and drama students.

The building which housed the department store also contained various other businesses, including a cabaret.

The hall currently houses the departments eight pieces of apparatus in a six-bay fire hall and two-bay satellite hall directly behind the hall.

The building's upper level houses department and faculty offices for both the political science and communications arts and sciences departments.

A modern three-storey building fully equipped with modern academic facilities now houses the department.
