† ˈcypre Obs. Also cypyr, -ur, cipre, -er. [ad. L. cyprus, a. Gr. κύπρος (from κύπρος Cyprus), the henna plant. The L. form also occurs.] 1. The henna-shrub (Lawsonia alba or inermis), with fragrant white flowers, found in the Levant.
