about-turn [Shortening of right about turn (right about adv. 1, 2).] about turn! a military command (cf. turn v. 22 c). Hence as n., a reversal of position (lit. and fig.), point of view, etc. (cf. turn n. 8). So as v. intr., to execute an about-turn.
