sparagmite Geol.|ˈspærəgmaɪt| [ad. G. sparagmit (J. Esmark Reise von Christiania nach Drontheim, etc. (1829) 25), f. Gr. σπάραγµα fragment, piece torn off: see -ite1.] A generic term for the feldspathic sandstones (chiefly arkoses), conglomerates, and other fragmental rocks which occur in late Pre-Cambrian formations in Scandinavia.
