cyˈstectomy Surg. [f. cyst + -ectomy.] Surgical removal of either the gall-bladder or all or part of the urinary bladder, or of a cyst.

In one he removed a triangular portion of the bladder measuring 2½ inches on the sides. 1962Lancet 19 May 1048/2 Total cystectomy was necessary. 1967S. Boyarsky Neurogenic Bladder xxvi. 203/2 Three patients continued to have chronic cystitis with copious drainage of purulent material from the urethra. Cystectomy was performed in all 3 after attempts at local therapy with anti-bacterial irrigations. |
