sorbitol Chem.|ˈsɔːbɪtɒl| [f. sorbite1 + -ol.] A hexahydric alcohol, CH2OH·(CHOH)4·CH2OH, found as a dextrorotatory isomer and crystallizing in the berries of the mountain-ash as colourless needles.
