abietene|ˈæbɪətiːn| [mod. f. L. abiet-em fir-tree + -ene, repr. Gr. -ηνη, female descendant.] A hydro-carbon obtained by distillation of the resin or balsam of the nut-pine of California (Pinus sabiniana), analogous to oil of turpentine.
