columnist orig. U.S.|ˈkɒləmnɪst, -mɪst| [f. column n. 4 + -ist.] One who writes a ‘column’ in the newspaper press (see column n. 4). In the U.S. sometimes with the jocular spelling colyumist |ˈkɒljəmɪst|.
