ˈskimmia Bot. [mod.L. (C. P. Thunberg Nova Genera Plantarum (1783) iii. 57), f. Jap. (mijama-) skimmi, the name of the plant.] An evergreen shrub of the genus so called, belonging to the family Rutaceæ, native to Japan, China, or the Himalayas, and bearing panicles of small white flowers followed by red berries. Cf. shikimi.
