Simultaneism|sɪməlˈteɪnɪɪz(ə)m, -ˈeɪnɪz(ə)m| Also ‖ Simultanéisme, Simultanism. [ad. F. Simultanéisme.] 1. A name given to Orphism 2, because of its use of the principle of simultaneous contrast (simultaneous a. 1 b) (see also quot. 1959).

French Painters 238 Delaunay produced a series of Flat⁓pattern pictures with brightly coloured fragments of revolving discs—a type of Futurist-Dynamism which he called Simultanéisme and which Apollinaire christened ‘Orphism’. 1959H.
