1973K. H. Jack in Trans. & Jrnl. Brit. Ceramic Soc. LXXII. 380/1 The structural unit of β-silicon nitride is SiN4; of α it is on average SiN3.9O0.1; of oxynitride it is SiN3O; and of the new ‘sialons’ it is (Si, Al)(O, N)4. 1975P. Popper Special Ceramics VI. p. ix, Several papers deal with materials in the Si-Al-O-N or Mg-Si-Al-O-N system. Colloquially, workers in this field have become accustomed to refer to them as ‘sialons’. 1981Economist 11 Apr. 98/3 The new materials mentioned at last week's conference included..very strong ceramics called sialons. |
