A compound that results from a condensation reaction of chloral with an acid amide; spec. chloral formamide, CCl3·CH(OH)·NH· CHO, a mild hypnotic.
1889Lancet 26 Oct. 849/2 The administration of 40 gr. of chloralamide the evening after gave him an unbroken sleep of nine hours. 1897Trans. Amer. Pediatric Soc.
