A pale yellow crystalline ketone, 1,3-diphenyl-2-propen-1-one, C6H5CH{b2}CHC(O)·C6H5. More widely: any of a large class of ketones which are substituted derivatives of this and include many hydroxylated compounds involved in the synthesis of flavonoids by plants.
